NEW Michigan Code to Take Effect in August

The 2006 editions of The Michigan Building Code, Michigan Residential Code and The Michigan Rehabilitation Code for Existing Buildings will take effect On August 1, 2008.

A change to the 2006 International Building Code deleted text which referenced the International Existing Building Code. This change eliminated the use of the IEBC as an alternative. The State of Michigan adopted the IEBC with its own amendments, thereby allowing it to be used as an alternative.

The State will have a limited number of copies of the new codes available for pick-up at DLEG’s offices in Okemos. They will not ship books. To order books through The International Code Council go to - 2006 Michigan Codes - to fill out an order. The State’s prices for the codes are the same as ICC’s member pricing.
